ITEMS OF INTEREST

Did you see the May 2017 CS Journal article re The Mother Church's global mission and a suggestion on how YOU can participate?  "In answer to what human footsteps can be taken to support the Church's global literature distribution program, anyone can choose to donate to The Mother Church's General Fund via the "Giving" page on christianscience.com.  A link to that page is found at the bottom of the website's home page.  They can also email or call The Mother Church to talk more about how to offer their support. ...We all have a role to play in supporting and recognizing the unfoldment of Church in the experience of our brothers and sisters."

SPEAKING OF COMMUNICATION

Our East Rochester church now has an Internet Connection.  The network name and password are posted on the front hall bulletin board.  Your board felt that this will be a convenience for committee meetings as well as for use by Sunday School teachers and their pupils.

And...a new committee called the Internet Committee has been established to work with a website developer to improve our website.  Any interested member is welcome to join by contacting one of the three current members:  Susan Teschke, Pamela Thompson, Georgia DeGregorio.  The next meeting is scheduled for September 6 at 9:00 am in the Sunday School room.

 FAREWELL TO COLLEGE BOUND:

J.D. Thompson: Washington U. at St Louis

Ted Newcombe:  University at Buffalo

  TIMELY  REMINDER:

Next Corporate Meeting will be September 9 at 10:00 am.  A "back-closet giveaway" will be offered after the meeting.

Christian Science is an established worldwide denomination and a deeply committed Christian church whose practice rests upon the inspired teachings of Christ Jesus and his disciples.

First Church of Christ, Scientist, East Rochester, NY is one of the many branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts.  Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, founded this church in 1879 for the purpose of organizing a church “designed to commemorate the word and works of our Master [Christ Jesus], which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing” (Church Manual, p.17).

.
Wednesday meetings are held 7:30-8:30p.m. and are conducted by our First Reader.  The meeting begins with selected readings from the Bible and Science and Health.  Members of the congregation then share testimonies of healing and inspiration, gained from their study of Christian Science.

Sunday School is held at the same hour as our Sunday services and provides the opportunity for children and young people up to the age of twenty to make Christian Science a practical part of their daily lives.  The teaching is based on the Bible and Science and Health, beginning with the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Sermon on the Mount.  Sunday School continues year round and visiting children are always welcome.

.We provide child care in our nursery for children too young to attend Sunday School or the Wednesday evening meetings.
